Hope Bags

So many people in the High Desert are in need of your compassion.  Serrano’s SASS (Socially Aware Serrano Students) is collecting the following items that will be assembled into care packages for the homeless. The packages are gallon-sized Ziploc Bags, so the items must be small enough for at least one of each listed item to fit in the bag. The Hope Bags will be distributed to students to keep in their cars and given to people in need.  We ask that all of the donations, from chapstick to granola bars, will not melt. Thank you so much for your participation!

March 8

Greetings, Wrightwood families,

It has been especially rewarding this year, as our students have been so thoughtful and generous and helpful to others. Currently, the Serrano High School SASS Club, which stands for Socially-Aware Serrano Students, is asking all schools in our district to support a drive to build Hope Bags for the homeless and needy. These bags include items like soap, snacks, socks, and hand warmers.

Your child came home this week with a flyer that describes the project and encourages each grade level to bring in specific items to help stock the bags. SASS members will assemble the bags after this district-wide collection.

Let's support the thoughtful high school students and the needy people they are trying to help. Please see the flyer and try to pick up some items for this very positive project. The deadline for the collection is March 23, the Friday after Spring Break. We're notifying everyone now, so you'll have plenty of time to shop over the next couple weeks. You may send in items to school with your child or drop them off at the office.

Thank you again for your generous spirit. Wrightwood really shows up for people in need.

Have a great day!
